Transparency Award Given to President Obama in Secret

Transparency  adj \tran(t)s-ˈper-ənt\ characterized by visibility or accessibility of information especially concerning business practices.

I wish I could say April Fools, but this actually happened this week.

"Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't," Mark Twain said.

It would be hard to make this up. Imagine the plot, a presidential hopeful, running on a platform of change, with transparency being one of his key issues. He gets elected and the government immediately begins to hold debates on health care. Those debates are all held behind closed doors.

Please read the definition at the beginning of this post again.

I personally believe the manner in which this award was given is fitting. It should be placed right next to the President's Nobel Peace Prize. When will get back to the time when awards were given for achievements. The hope that someone might someday achieve the merits of the award, is not a reason to award it.

Slow Weekend for News

Nothing major happened this weekend, so I'll just link you to a site that has a very good following and is pretty reliable when it comes to verifying things that might not seem questionable. Click here and see for yourself!

Here are a few examples:

- Think the Bush Administration was the only ones who thought Saddam had WMD's?

- Think Obama's Birth Certificate is a forgery?

- Did Mickey Mantle give a crude response when Yankees publicity officials asked him to describe his "outstanding event" at Yankee Stadium?

Similar or Same?

I understand that creative thinking might slow down during the winter, but isn't it time for new ideas? How can you "Win the Future" if you're copying the past or the unsuccessful?

Conflict of Interest?

As the battle rages on between the public-labor unions and Governor Walker in Wisconsin, the news has been focused primarily on the collective bargaining rights or the 14 democrats who fled the state to hold off a vote.

Would the unions bargaining to use a union-controlled health care company be considered a conflict of interest?
